Make it personal... customise your gift!

Blog_glasses Personalised gifts not only make the recipient feel extra special but they will be treasured for years to come as they carry your emotions with them.  A handwritten note to accompany just about any gift whether low or high value will place extra significance on that gift making it a treasured gift for years to come.

Adding a personal touch to your gift such as the recipient's name or initials provides that feeling that someone has not only remembered the day but has taken the time to buy a special gift with extra meaning.  It's guaranteed if you're unwrapping several gifts, you'll be drawn immediately to the gift that carries your name!

The most important thing to consider when choosing a personalised gift is whether the gift itself will be useful to the recipient.  Whether you're shopping for personalised baby gifts, anniversary gifts, personalised birthday gifts, personalised christmas gifts, or personalised wedding gifts it's often a good idea to choose what will be practical and useful or conveys a special message.

If he's a golf enthusiast he's bound to be thrilled by a personalised golf ball to commemorate a special occasion such as he's birthday with a message that you think he's a great golfer!

If it's their anniversary a commemorative china plate with the wedding date together with a personal message or a pair of exquisite champagne flutes will be treasured for ever.

If it's a new baby gift celebration what better way to mark the occasion than with a charming china breakfast set. Each piece can be customised with the baby's name and after it's used can be packed away in the lovely gift box and treasured forever.

A few ideas for you but we've plenty of more for every occasion.  Click here for the full range of personalised gifts.

Mother's Day

Discount_banner_full

Celebrating Mother's Day!

Mothers, what would we do without them? In a nutshell they are lovely; they comfort us when we are hurt; cook our favourite dinners, even after we have left home! And no matter what they will always be on our side. In fact when you think back to everything that your mother has done for you over the years it comes as no surprise that we want to spoil them rotten! On mother’s day we get the chance to do just this.

Mother’s day is a day when sons and daughters around the world desperately try to find the perfect gift for their mum to make up for the teenage troubles that we put them through! It is a way to make up for not phoning as much as we should, for not visiting as much as we should and to generally just let them know we do care! We care a lot and this is our way of saying thank you for always being there through the good times, and the bad times. But to do this successfully you need a gift chosen especially just for her.

Commercial pressure

Yes the high street will make a massive profit out of mother’s day, yes the whole concept is becoming more and more commercialised every year with pressure to buy more and more expensive mother's day gifts each year.  With a little bit of extra thought you don't need to buy a gift just for the sake of it or succumb to the commercial pressure.  Yes, we can all pick up a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates, classic gifts that are sometimes a lifesaver, but do these gifts really say everything you want to say? Do they hold that personal touch? Instead of buying any old bunch of flowers why not buy gardening accessories such as a grow your own sunflower or herb garden kit, these will reflect your mothers interest, gardening, and will demonstrate a lot more thought than just a generic gift such as flowers.

Instead of buying a box of chocolates why not make up a hamper of chocolates, which includes classics together with some of your mother's favourites such as some good old fashioned sweets that will take her back in time for a bit? A gift like this says I love and care for you where as a plain old box of chocolates might say "this is all the garage had left when I was driving down to see you"!

Make your Mum feel extra special on this day...

The significance of mother’s day is to celebrate motherhood so opt to purchase a more personalised gift and give yourself a break from commercialisation. As mother’s day sits on the eve of spring why not opt for a gift that incorporates time outside? For example, a cheese and wine hamper, a gardening holdall kit that contains everything your mum needs such as a dibber for making holes of a perfect depth and width, a pair of light weight polka dot gloves, sharp precision cutting blades and a tough stainless steel fork, all of which are perfect to transform a window box through to a flower bed. Or, if your mum simply prefers to spend time in the garden as much as she loves a cup of tea then an anti-bug garden mugis perfect. With a feminine design and a saucer that doubles up as a lid to keep bugs etc out your mum will be delighted over such a thoughtful gift.

If your mum prefers however to pamper herself rather than the garden then take a slightly different approach than the normal bath and shower gift sets; a personal stylist experience, a deluxe pamper hamper, fragrance candle gift sets or a mother and baby photo shoot are just a handful of ideas of how to indulge your mum in some ‘me’ time without succumbing to commercial pressure as they are not thoughtless generic gifts that scream last minute shopping.

Whatever makes your mother happy; a good bottle of wine, fine chocolates, nature, a spa day etc go for it! Don’t become part of the 3.7 million who idly brought a mixed bouquet last year; buy something that your mum wants and truly spoil her rotten this mother’s day, as she'll be secretly hoping that you will!

Retro_sweetsSugar Rush? Sweet Tooth? Retro Sweets are back!

Friday the 5th of February 1953 may not stand out in your mind but when you think about it this date actually probably had a BIG impact on your childhood; why? Because it marks the day when the Government ended sweet rationing of course!

Welcome to the Sweet Shop!

Black jacks, cola bottles, dolly mixtures, caramac bars, drumstick lollies, flying saucers, love hearts, fruit salads, dip dabs, milk bottles and much more – Did you think they’d disappeared? Think again! All of your favourites are now back, ready for you to re-live the old days.

I bet the mere mention of the above has taken you down memory lane and dug up concepts of your childhood; I know it has for me! Going to the tuck shop in your break time to buy rainbow drops, trips to the corner shop to pick up some gobstoppers, walking home from school with a bag of cola cubes and hanging out with friends sharing all your favourites; sweets have been a part of our childhood and we all had our favourites but why should we abandon these sweet delights just because we are older? Let’s carry on the tradition and start satisfying our sweet tooth again!

Thanks to the Internet boom there are now websites emerging that provide you with a huge range of retro chews, chocs, lollies, yummy gummies, treats and bubblegum as well as retro bars. The choice is so big that it is guaranteed to satisfy even the sweetest tooth and best of all they can make the perfect gift.

Treat your loved ones with traditional, retro sweets

Whether you are looking to buy for yourself or someone special, retro sweets are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. A prime example of when they make the perfect gift is a 21st or 30th birthday of one of your oldest friends, someone who you used to go to the corner shop with to buy sherbet sticks. Buying a gift pack of retro sweets will bring back all the childhood memories of all the time the two of you spent together; what a perfect way to celebrate!

Maybe you are looking to treat your special other half? Love hearts, Parma violets and strawberries and cream hard boiled sweets are a cute, romantic way of staying I love you.

If you are looking to say thank you to a family member, such as your Grandma then think back to when you were young and how she always carried your favourite traditional sweets in her bag; why not repay the favour? Create your own selection of sweets, which includes all of her favourites and all of those classic sweets she used to keep especially for you. Not only does this provide her with lovely treats but it also demonstrates how much you appreciate everything she used to do for you and how much you love spending time with her.

What if the person you are buying the retro sweets for doesn’t really have any memories of them from their childhood? Maybe they were too young or just never really indulged. In cases such as this I say let them start to create some memories now! Introduce them to the sweets that meant a lot to you when you were growing up because remember your never to young or too old to get stuck into some sweets.

If you are looking to treat someone with a selection of sweets then DON’T rush out to your local shop; all you’ll find there are a limited selection of modern sweets, what you need to do is simply buy online, you will be amazed at what you can find. All the classics and all your favourites will be available; all that’s left for you to do then is to pick which ones you want, so start looking now and create the perfect gift and trip down memory lane.
